The article presents an analysis of the theoretical approaches of the world psychological school, which identified the main provisions and indicators for the study of the psychological well-being of a person. The approaches under consideration are determined by the provisions of the multidimensionality of the study of various aspects in comparison with subjective indicators of the quality of life. The article presents the results of a study of the problem of experiencing the state of psychological well-being by university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions that have arisen in the learning and self-development of students, due to social isolation have created deprivation conditions for maintaining psychological well-being. Against this background, students experience internal discomfort caused by the inability to fully satisfy significant needs - mental deprivation manifests itself in the distortion of the student's personal development and the psychophysiological activity of his body. In conditions of social isolation, the aspects of changing living conditions should be added to the above list of components: disruption of work and rest, lack of physical activity and overload of mental activity.
