This article examines the influence of value orientations on the social adaptation of students using psychological research methods. The study made it possible to identify the features of the formation of students’ value systems, as well as to determine commonalities and differences in their social adaptation. The work has not only theoretical significance but also practical value: it serves as a basis for improving psychological approaches aimed at supporting students’ social adaptation in educational organizations, taking into account their value orientations. In addition, the study of students’ value orientations and social adaptation is specified as one of the relevant directions in the science of psychology. Overall, values represent an important informational layer that defines an individual’s life positions and orientations; their effective use enables students to act successfully in the social environment and to achieve personal development. Methods for identifying value orientations have been considered by many scholars, including Sh.Schwartz, E.Spranger, C.Rogers, and other researchers who studied them in the context of social adaptation and personal development. They describe value orientations as a key factor determining an individual’s behavior, interaction within the social environment, and life strategies. The study makes it possible to develop psychological programs aimed at fostering students’ value orientations and supporting the process of their social adaptation for successful integration into the educational environment.
The research was conducted among students of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University and “Kainar” University. The respondents included 75 students aged 18–19 years. Value orientations and the level of social adaptation of the study participants were determined using a set of specialized psychological methods.
