The article discusses modern approaches to screening for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in children. The importance of early detection of ASD is substantiated and information on the most common screening tools used in different countries, including Kazakhstan, is provided. The paper provides an overview of key screening methods (CARS, CHAT, M-CHAT-R/F, CSBS-DP, SCQ, CASD, STAT), their characteristics, advantages and limitations. The international experience of organizing screening programs in the USA, Europe, Japan, China, Canada and Australia, etc. is considered. The following screening models are highlighted: universal, by appeal and mixed; positive aspects and risks. The situation in Kazakhstan is separately considered, where the adapted M-CHAT-R/F questionnaire has been introduced since 2022, but there is no data on its effectiveness yet. The authors emphasize that the systematic use of validated screening tools can significantly increase the effectiveness of early detection of ASD, contribute to the timely initiation of corrective measures and reduce socio-economic costs. A conclusion was made about the need to optimize screening algorithms, expand the availability of methods, and integrate digital technologies into early intervention practice.
