The purpose of this article is to review research on the relationship between mindfulness practices and creativity. Creativity is the highest level of intellectual functioning in the cognitive sphere. Creativity is a mental and social process involving the generation of new ideas or concepts, or a new creative mind association between existing ideas or concepts. In the beginning, we looked at different types of awareness practices, and identified three main types of meditation - mindfulness meditation (MМ), concentration meditation (CM) and transcendental meditation (TM). The following is a review of current research, both older and more recent, looking for the relationship between mindfulness and creativity practices. They were also arranged in a table format, indicating the authors, the methods for measuring creativity, the mindfulness practices used in the study, and the main results. Despite promising results, other factors such as context, variables, or potential interactions are important when studying the relationship between mindfulness practices and creativity. For example, mindfulness in most studies promotes creativity, but there are some concerns about how it affects mind wandering and therefore creativity. More subtle and more recent research has further ambiguized the issue by breaking down mind wandering into different types (spontaneous and intentional), each of which affects creativity in different ways. This remains a fairly new and relatively unexplored area of empirical work. Further research into the relationship between mindfulness practices and creativity is recommended to further enrich the current literature and address existing gaps.
