This article discusses the need to develop the linguistic competence of future teachers. The author reveals the concept of competence, characterizes the psychological-practical and linguistic-psychological meaning of this concept.

In addition, the author notes that the formation of linguistic competencies takes into account the personal and psychological characteristics (temperament) of future primary school teachers, discusses the psychological barriers and difficulties that arise when learning and mastering a foreign language.
