Social anxiety manifests itself in all areas of a teenager's life, has a negative impact on a decrease in his mood, deterioration of relations with family and friends, and a decrease in academic performance. The article describes modern approaches and theories to the study of social anxiety in adolescents. Social anxiety is studied within the framework of the following stages: in age psychology-from the point of view of inhibition of behavior and its biological sources; Developmental Psychology-from the point of view of the Affective-Behavioral profile of loneliness/isolation and its sources in the relationship between parent and child; in clinical psychology-from the point of view of prevention of personality disorder (social phobia), its diagnosis, treatment and etiology.The current results and prospects of possible research are presented.
