During the preschool years, emotional responsiveness to nature, the expression of empathy, and caring actions are among the important manifestations that contribute to the formation of ecological culture. The purpose of this study was to describe the main psychological and behavioral manifestations of ecological empathy in preschool children based on the professional experience and observations of preschool educators. The main research question was formulated as follows: What psychological and behavioral indicators characterize ecological empathy in preschool children based on educators’ professional experience and observations? The study employed a qualitative descriptive design. Semi-structured interview responses from 28 preschool educators working in preschool organizations in Almaty were analyzed. The data were coded and processed in MAXQDA using content analysis and thematic analysis and were subsequently organized into key categories and themes. The analysis identified internal emotional-sensory, practical-behavioral, and value-moral manifestations of ecological empathy within an experience-based pedagogical process. The findings showed that, according to educators’ professional observations, ecological empathy in children is expressed through empathy toward nature, responsibility, protective behavior, and caring actions.
