The aim of this study is to examine the impact of students’ participation in sports activities on their level of self-esteem, the degree of satisfaction of basic psychological needs, and the development of psychological resilience. The relevance of the research is обусловлена by the increasing psycho-emotional burden on students within the modern educational process and the need to identify effective resources for maintaining young people’s mental health.
The study involved 120 university students aged 18 to 25, of whom 60% were female and 40% were male. The sample was divided into two groups: students who regularly participate in sports activities and students with a low level or absence of physical activity. Standardized diagnostic instruments were used, including the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale, the Basic Psychological Needs Satisfaction Scale, and the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale.
Statistical data processing was carried out using correlation analysis and group comparison methods. The results indicate a positive relationship between sports activity and higher levels of self-esteem, satisfaction of basic psychological needs, and psychological resilience among students. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying the obtained findings in the development of preventive and developmental programs aimed at strengthening students’ psychological well-being in the educational environment.
