The article is devoted to the study of gender peculiarities of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in female students combining study and work. Particular attention is paid to the way ADHD symptoms manifest themselves in women - unlike men, they are more often dominated by internal manifestations such as absent-mindedness, anxiety and low stress tolerance, while hyperactivity may be less pronounced. This often leads to late diagnosis and, as a consequence, to inadequate support in academic and professional activities. The high degree of comorbidity of ADHD in women is also considered, which further complicates the diagnosis.
The study used the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale methodology recommended by the World Health Organization. The interview was conducted among 77 female students aged 18 to 21 who study at the University of Astana. All participants combined study and work. Signs of ADHD were revealed in 26 of them. Further additional survey was conducted to identify the impact of symptoms on academic performance, concentration, interaction with teachers and time organization. The results highlight the need to develop support strategies in the educational environment.
