This article shows the relevance of the problem of selecting potential foster parents. The importance of properly organized training and support of candidates after the selection process is also mentioned. Ten potential foster parents were selected to test psychological selection methods. Standardized interviews and a family sociogram were conducted for the first five candidates, the Bass-Durkee questionnaire and the Spielberger-Hanin anxiety scale for the remaining five candidates, and the results were analyzed.
The purpose of the research is to provide effective methods based on key aspects of psychological selection and support of candidates for foster parents, as well as on research results.
Methodology. Methods such as the collection and processing of raw data, conducting psychological tests and interviews, as well as analyzing the results were used in the work on this article.
The results of the research. In the course of the work, the relevance of psychological selection and support of potential foster parents was revealed. During the psychological diagnosis, the effectiveness of standardized interview methods, family sociograms, Buss-Durkee and Spielberger-Hanin was demonstrated.
