Publication ethics
Ethics of scientific publications
Scientific Journal “Bulletin of Abay KazNPU. Psychology Series” strives to strictly comply with the standards of publication ethics, code of ethics, and recommendations of the international committee COPE - Committee on Publication Ethics, EASE - European Association of Science Editors, ANRI - Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers, and takes all possible measures against any abuses in this regard.
The following are the principles of ethical behavior of all parties involved in the publication process: authors, journal editors, reviewers, and publishers. The Editorial Board reserves the right to reject any submission that does not respect publication ethics.
Responsibilities of authors
Authorship
- The author is responsible for the content of a scientific article. Authors are obliged to make corrections, clarifications, retractions, and apologies, if any.
- A manuscript may be submitted for publication only by its author or one of its co-authors.
- All authors listed in the document are equally responsible for the content of the submitted manuscript or published article.
- The corresponding author ensures that all listed co-authors agree on the content of the manuscript, its publication, and the order of authorship.
- The corresponding author ensures that all persons who have made significant scientific contributions to the paper are listed as co-authors.
- By submitting an article to the Journal, the author realizes the specified degree of personal responsibility, which is reflected in a written application to the Editorial Board of the Journal.
Copyright and licensing
- The author (co-authors) warrant that their manuscript has not been published previously and is not currently under consideration by any other journal.
- The corresponding author (co-authors) assigns to the right to use the article under a simple (non-exclusive) license for the duration of the exclusive rights to the work. The corresponding author warrants that he/she has sufficient rights to enter into such an agreement.
- The author(s) guarantee that their article does not infringe the copyrights of third parties.
- If the research described in the manuscript involves the use of third-party data or tools that are not explicitly declared publicly available, the authors are responsible for obtaining proper permissions for their use from the copyright holders.
Responsibilities of reviewers
- The purpose of the peer review process is to help authors ensure the academic excellence of their work accepted for publication and to assist publishers in making editorial decisions.
- Reviewers should clearly express their positions and provide arguments to support them.
- Reviewing should be conducted objectively and fairly. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
- Reviewers should inform the editor of conflicts of interest regarding authors, research topic, and/or funding sources.
- The reviewer should bring to the attention of the editor any significant similarity or overlap between the manuscript under review and other published work of which they are aware.
- Reviewers are also responsible for compiling the review within the deadlines set by the editor.
Responsibilities of Editors
- The editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published.
- The editor makes decisions to reject/accept a paper only based on the originality, importance, quality, and significance of the article.
- The Editor strives to maintain academic integrity and reserves the right to reject any paper if any misconduct is detected.
- The relationship between editors and publishers is based on the principle of editorial independence. The publisher does not influence editorial decisions.
- Editors are responsible for ensuring a fair, impartial, and anonymous peer review process for all submitted manuscripts and ultimately make the final decision to publish the article.
