This article proposes the general goal of the system of career guidance - preparing students to choose a profession that satisfies their personal interest and social need, also presents an analysis of the study of the effectiveness of psychological methods of career guidance for graduates when choosing a profession. The purpose and main directions of scientific research: the theoretical foundations of the process of satisfying a professional orientation, its psychological characteristics, the psychological foundations and patterns of the concept of career guidance for students, the definition of ways to control, evaluate and predict the process of career guidance for high school students in general education schools, the definition of effective ways of ongoing career guidance work at the present stage
