Abstract

Abstract

The work is devoted to the study of the influence of psychological aspects of negative attitudes on the formation of students' social identity, including self-esteem and social intelligence as interrelated components. In the context of modern social, economic and political instability, characterized by information overload and uncertainty of the future, students face increased challenges in the process of self-perception and building relationships with the surrounding society. Given the need to master a new social role, which introduces additional stress into the adaptation process, it should be noted that this process requires students to accept and integrate the values and norms inherent in the new social environment. This can lead to the development of negative tendencies that affect their social adaptation and interpersonal relationships, and also determine the level of their stability in the context of social interactions.

The paper presents the materials of an empirical study obtained on a sample of Narxoz University students aged 18 to 22 years. The following psychological methods were used to conduct the study (N=63): “Diagnostics of Irrational Attitudes” (SPB, H. Kassinove, A. Berger), “Tromso Social Intelligence Scale” (D. Silvera, M. Martinussen, T. Dahl) and “Determination of the Level of Self-Esteem” (S. V. Kovalev). The obtained results confirm that students with low levels of self-esteem and social intelligence have more pronounced negative attitudes, which indicates a relationship between these personal characteristics. These data confirm the hypothesis about the influence of the level of self-esteem and social intelligence on the development of negative attitudes in both the social and academic spheres. Low self-esteem and limited social skills may reinforce negative attitudes, which in turn make it difficult for students to adapt to different contexts. The results highlight the importance of taking these factors into account when developing psychological and educational programs aimed at improving social integration and reducing stress among students.
