The article presents the results of a study of emotional intelligence and ways of its formation and development among future teachers. Based on the analysis of research by foreign and domestic scientists, it turned out that one of the main indicators of teachers' readiness for professional activity is the ability of a specialist to process emotional information and use it in pedagogical practice. In this regard, students at KazNWTTU the 1st year of the Institute of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Arts introduced a training program for the development of emotional intelligence and soft skills in the amount of 150 hours (5 credits).
To diagnose and evaluate the effectiveness of this program, a battery of Cambridge Mindreading (CAM) tests by S.Baron-Cohen was used, as well as methods of mathematical statistics. As a result of the conducted research, positive dynamics were revealed in the formation and development of the main indicators of emotional intelligence of future teachers: in the recognition of emotions; in the recognition of emotions of men; in the recognition of emotions of women; in the recognition of positive emotion spectra; in the recognition of neutral emotion spectra; in the recognition of negative emotion spectra.
